Less Is More – GXP De-Badged

With a little time and patience, and after a considerable amount of procrastination, I finally tackled de-badging and de-chickleting on the car. It looks great, not a scratch in the process, and a much more clean look. I think the whole process took an hour.
I removed a “GM” “chicklet” from each front fender, and all the “Pontiac”, “Solstice”, and “GXP” letters. I heated up each piece for approximately 2 minutes from a few inches away with the hair dryer. Next, I sprayed on a liberal amount of WD-40, then gently pressed the bondo knife through the adhesive backing of each piece. I spent the most time rubbing WD-40 to remove all but the most stubborn pieces of adhesive. The final remnants of adhesive cleaned off thanks to a little Goo Gone.
